Gary M. Horwitz
Gary M. Horwitz, Esquire earned his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk Law School and passed the Massachusetts Bar Examination in 1988. In 1989, Gary opened his law practice in Billerica, Massachusetts. In 2002, Gary started Jewel Realty, a personal service, boutique, real estate agency.
Today, Gary's practice concentrates in family law, bankruptcy, real estate, estate planning, personal injury and criminal defense.
In 1994, Gary earned his Certification from the Massachusetts Council of Family Mediators, in compliance with Mass. Rule 8, as a neutral third-party divorce mediator. Gary's clients find the mediation process to be the ideal opportunity for both parties seeking to separate, to work together to resolve the issues between them. Through mutual cooperation, separating parties are guided by the neutral mediator to put forth a good faith effort leading to their creation of a final agreement that represents their best interests. Should the parties have children, the best interests of the child(ren) are prioritized. Gary's background in family law combines with his successful experience as a neutral mediator to provide his clients a respectful forum to work together in both, a productive, and in an efficient manner. In this way, clients save thousands of dollars in court costs and attorney fees, preserve their relationship with each other, and avoid the acrimony of contested divorce proceedings.
As a result of Gary's experience, training and ethical reputation in the field of domestic relations, he is frequently appointed by the Massachusetts Probate and Family Courts to investigate contentious matters of custody, visitation, and removal of children to other states. Gary's investigation skills make him a valuable asset to his clients in times when the facts need to be brought to the Court's attention.
The Courts also appoint Gary to investigate the fiduciary's management of client funds in estate and trustee accounts to insure their required duty of care and loyalty.

Gary has shared his vast knowledge of the law in the capacity of Adjunct Instructor at Newbury College campuses in Lowell and Wakefield, Massachusetts. In addition to teaching many Paralegal/Legal Assistant courses, Gary has also taught in the areas of ethics, logic, alternative dispute resolution and terrorism.
